Sally's Scuba Site
Red Sea

The Red Sea, as any diver, novice or experienced will know, is one of the most popular diving locations in the Western Hemisphere. The main reason is that it offers tropical reef diving relatively close by, for the high proportion of divers that travel mainly from Europe.

My first diving holiday in the Red Sea was spent on a liveaboard, this is when a boat is chartered and places sold. I was lucky, the group of 20 consisted of 15 people I knew and the other 5 were quickly integrated as they were friends of others in the group. The age range was quite wide, but the diving experience was staggering, almost all had over 200 dives some ran into more than 1,000! I felt as if I would be very well looked after!!

The boat that we had chartered was through Goldenjoy and it was the MV Oyster. This is one of the most luxiourious liveaboards working the Red Sea and is due to be dry docked in Dec 2000 for a new re-fit, so from next year it will be even better! In late September we travelled South from Hurghada to The Brothers, north almost to Ras Mohammed and then back to Hurghada. For more detailed information please refer to the Diving link below.
